What products do you consider for review?

We primarily review televisions, passive and powered speakers, soundbars, amplifiers, AV receivers and processors, and streaming devices. Other hi-fi and home theater products may be considered when they are a strong fit for our audience and editorial calendar.

Do you charge a review fee?

No. We do not charge brands to review their products, and payment cannot be used to secure editorial coverage or influence our conclusions. Paid sponsorships and brand integrations are handled separately from the review process and are clearly disclosed.

Is a review guaranteed?

No. Submitting a product, receiving an invitation to send it, or having it evaluated does not guarantee that a review will be published. Reviews may appear on the Andrew Robinson YouTube channel, the Of Sound Design website, or both, depending on the product and our editorial plans.

How long does the review process take?

Products typically remain with us for approximately 60 days, though the timeline may vary depending on the product, the complexity of the evaluation, and our production schedule.

The first one to two weeks are generally reserved for intake, including confirming that the product arrived safely, inspecting its condition, verifying the included components, and completing basic operational checks. This intake period is separate from the full evaluation process.

Because reviews are scheduled around our broader editorial calendar, we cannot guarantee a specific publication date.

Do you accept embargoes and launch-date requests?

We accept embargoes when they are disclosed and agreed to in advance. An embargo prevents publication before a specified date, but it does not guarantee that coverage will be published on that date.

We are happy to consider launch-day or other requested publication timing, but cannot guarantee a specific release date for editorial coverage.

When publication timing is essential to a campaign, a paid brand partnership may be a better fit. Sponsored features and integrations are handled separately from independent editorial reviews and are clearly disclosed.

Who handles shipping and returns?

The submitting company is responsible for all inbound and return shipping costs and logistics. This includes freight, insurance, customs or duties when applicable, prepaid shipping labels, and any necessary carrier arrangements.

When a product is ready to be returned, the company must provide the return label and schedule the pickup.

Products should arrive in packaging suitable for reuse, and responsibility for loss or damage remains with the company while the product is in transit.

Can brands review or approve coverage before publication?

No. While we welcome official product details that may assist our evaluation, brands do not receive advance access to independent editorial reviews and cannot approve, revise, or influence our conclusions before publication.

We may contact you with questions about the product, to verify factual information, or to request an on-record response to issues raised during our evaluation. This communication is part of our reporting process and does not provide advance access to the review or control over our conclusions.

Can I send a product without prior approval?

No. Please do not ship a product until your submission has been reviewed and you have received written confirmation from us.

Unsolicited products may be refused or returned at the sender’s expense. Receiving an unsolicited product does not guarantee that it will be evaluated, reviewed, or featured.
